Claudia Hopkins, BSc (Hon)

Instructional Designer

Claudia holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University in Chemical Biology Co-op. During her co-op experience, she discovered a passion for visual science and medical communication. She first worked at a stem cell laboratory at McMaster University under Dr Mick Bhatia as a research assistant, and then began communicating the clinical impact of their research through illustrative schematics and visual material. She then worked with Dr. Fabio Rossi and Dr. Michael Underhill of UBC, communicating their biomedical research through 2D animations, and illustrations for the scientific community and the public. Through these experiences, she found a passion for communicating science and medicine through visual experiences. She is now studying Interaction Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, to further explore how interaction design can enhance science and medical communication. At UBC CPD, Claudia primary projects are within eLearning and improving on the interactivity between the content and learners. She also works on other various branding and communication projects for the Research and Education team.
