Overview

This workshop will be delivered in an in-person, interactive format with expert facilitators to mazimize opportunities for group discussion, knowledge sharing, and questions. Presentations will be followed by case study discussions.

Session Venue

Skills Gained

The goal of this session is for physicians to develop and build the confidence to provide primary care for HIV-positive patients. At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the role of the primary care physician in the care of HIV-positive patients;
  • Identify and access the supports and resources that are available through the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS;
  • Describe the baseline assessment of HIV-positive patients and know when to initiate antiretroviral therapy (ART);
  • Identify and support the monitoring of patients with treatment failures and toxicities; and
  • Describe major HIV-related co-morbidities and their implications for care.
