Overview

Following the overwhelming success of our previous workshops in Vancouver Coastal Health, we are pleased to offer sessions on routine HIV testing on Vancouver Island. These two-part interactive sessions will cover new guidelines for routine HIV testing, how to implement the recommendations, and what to do following a positive result.

Part 1 (Workshop)
Date: Tuesday March 3, 2015
Time: 1800-2100 PST (Dinner served at 1730)

Part 2 (Follow-Up Session)
Date: Tuesday May 5, 2015
Time: 1800-1900 PST

Skills Gained

At the end of the Workshop participants will be able to:

  • Describe the clinical rationale and evidence for routine HIV testing, early treatment, and treatment-as-prevention
  • Describe new BC guidelines for HIV testing
  • Identify and utilize resources to support routine HIV testing
  • Design a plan for integrating routine HIV testing into practice
  • Identify and utilize resources to connect HIV positive patients to care

At the end of the Follow-Up Session participants will be able to:

  • Self-appraise and reflect on routine HIV testing in practice
  • Describe the family physician's role in follow-up and management of a patient living with HIV
  • Develop a plan for sustaining routine HIV testing in practice
