What will be covered in this course?

The Sexual Health Forum: Online Journal Club & Practice-Focused Dialogue is aimed at family physicians who provide care in BC (we also welcome Nurse Practitioners) and will cover five new and relevant sexual health articles. The moderators are family physicians with expertise in sexual health care.

What is the time period of this course?

The series of topics will run over the fall 2017 and spring 2018. The first session starts in September 2017. Please note there is an introduction to the course platform that will run ahead of Session 1. Each of the subsequent topic sessions will run for five weeks.

How do the sessions work?

Each session will run for five (5) weeks. The session starts with an initial post on the journal club website by the Moderator, summarizing an academic article or a case study. Participants will then engage in discussion online responding to each others' comments on the website. This is asynchronous, so you can visit the website at any time that suits your schedule, using any device with an internet connection. To make the most of this learning experience we suggest you visit the website approximately twice per week to read others' comments and add to the discussion.

  • Recognize the importance of sexual health for the well-being of patients of all ages, genders, and orientations;
  • Think critically about issues affecting sexual health and sexual health care delivery;
  • Contribute to a learning community of primary care clinicians who are interested in sexual health; and 
  • Acquire knowledge, strategies, and skills to improve healthcare and health outcomes for patients.

Cost

$175.00 per physician and complimentary for residents.
