Jennie Barrows is the Interim Director for the Faculty of Medicine's Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD). Jennie is passionate about adult education and healthcare improvement and she views CPD as central in empowering healthcare professionals to transform health for everyone. Jennie has worked with UBC CPD since 2012, most recently as the Senior Manager, Strategic Projects and Partnerships. Jennie has broad experience in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of education programs in Canada and Europe, and has used her experience to guide the creation of a wide range of innovative education programs at UBC CPD, several of which have won awards. Jennie holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Hons) from the University of Manchester in the UK and a Master of Arts in Human Development, Learning, and Culture from the University of British Columbia. Jennie’s Master’s thesis examined family physicians’ motivations for and experiences of formal continuing professional development.
In her role as Interim Director, Jennie leads our team of medical education professionals in striving towards our vision of being leaders in health improvement through innovative continuing professional development. Jennie oversees the inception, design, and delivery of an impressive range of CPD activities, from conferences to online modules to custom, innovative CPD activities for rural and urban healthcare professionals.
