Title: Digital Marketing Specialist and Writer

Portfolio: Administration and Communications

Describe what you do and what programs you work on:

As Digital Marketing Specialist and Writer at UBC Continuing Professional Development (CPD), I create and build user-friendly content for our website while providing communications and promotional support for learning activities.

I write, edit and proof copy for initiatives like CPD Highlights and Portfolios, and support to inform learners, highlight our partnerships and recognize the team through social media and email campaigns.

As one of the largest providers of accredited CPD in Canada with more than 80 partners, I help ensure you can connect with us for your learning and collaboration needs.

Who do you work with most closely?

In collaboration with team members across all portfolios, I work to reinforce our vision at UBC CPD through storytelling— highlighting our commitment to provide optimal health care for everyone.

I implement website projects that recount our long-standing and dedicated partnerships, like Cancer Care Education and The CART Access Project.

Working closely with our web development team, I also assist with regular maintenance to benefit the online experience and ensure our systems comply to security and confidentiality standards.

Who does your work impact?

Most directly, our communication efforts impact health professionals across Canada who seek to stay up to date on best practices or learn more about specialized topics.

In what ways does this work impact the health community, health-care system, or well-being of the target audience?

We engage the health community in learning, but our mission goes beyond that. We acknowledge the historic and systemic barriers that affect the health-care system.

Through storytelling and promotions, we connect the community to learning experiences that bridge knowledge and practice. We also hope to provide opportunities that support belonging and a sense of wellness.

What do you think are the new opportunities (trends) affecting your work?

As the bounds of technology expand, it is an exciting time to have access to tools like artificial intelligence, which derives from a wide range of sources. Simultaneously, navigating the versatility of social media is an ever-changing skill.
