Practice Ready Assessment - British Columbia (PRA-BC)
Centralized Orientation
The Centralized Orientation provides a structured overview of the Canadian medical system and culture. This multi-day orientation prepares PRA-BC candidates for the 12-week Clinical Field Assessment (CFA) component of the program.

Audience
- New-to-BC family physicians who are registered as a PRA-BC candidate
- Prospective PRA-BC candidates should visit the PRA-BC website for further information. Please note that eligibility for the program is determined by PRA-BC.
Course Topics
Topics covered in this workshop include:
- Canadian healthcare standards and practices (including medico-legal information)
- Organizations, programs, tools and resources available at the local, provincial and national level
- Patient-centred care and cultural awareness
- Medical record keeping
- Prescribing, addiction medicine, pharmacy, maternity and newborn care, pediatric medicine, elderly patient care, palliative care, mental health, sexual health, public health, rural emergency medicine and much more.

Accreditation
The Division of Continuing Professional Development, University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Committee (CACME) to provide CPD credits for physicians. This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 68.75 Mainpro+® credits. Each physician should claim only those credits accrued through participation in the activity.
