2025 Holiday Message

As we look toward 2026, we’re excited to build on emerging topics and formats, collaboration and teamwork that defined this past years’ season of learning.

UBC CPD’s community of learners, partners and subject matter experts allow us to enhance this meaningful work and bring it into the next year.

“This past year has shown us the power of collaboration and curiosity in shaping meaningful education,” says Jackie Howard, UBC CPD Director.

Tuning in to innovative learning formats in 2026

We are delighted to announce the launch of CPD In Practice, a brand-new podcast to help you stay current in today’s medical landscape. Hosted by Dr. Chris Morrow, UBC CPD Executive Medical Director. The podcast explores the latest developments in clinical medicine and how they apply to real-world practice.

Each episode features conversations with leading experts from across Canada on topics including:

  • Generative AI in Medicine
  • GLP-1 and Weight
  • Alcohol Use Disorder

The immersive virtual Trauma-Informed Care Workshop Program for Midwives also starts this January, with new online modules to follow on topics like vacuum-assisted deliveries and breech presentations—delivered by our Midwifery CPD Consortium, a four-way partnership between UBC Department of Midwifery, the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, the Midwives Association of BC and UBC CPD.

Expanding on critical primary care topics

Our brand-new virtual conference, The Menopause Essentials, will take place on February 6. The one-day event is designed to equip Canadian primary care providers with tools to assess perimenopause and menopause, to better support patients through the midlife transition.

The Clinically Speaking: NP Webinar Series, formerly known as Clinical Corners, is renewed into an updated format, focusing on evidence-informed updates to support decision making in busy primary care settings.

Sessions continue to take place virtually until May 2026, with presentation topics spanning ADHD and autism in children, prenatal genetic screening, mental health and more—don't miss out!

In response to emerging health-care needs and physician shortages across British Columbia (BC), we are creating a new webinar for leaders and health professionals working with International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in BC.

Stay up to date on how we continue to support IMGs in 2026 through initiatives like the British Columbia Physician Integration Program (BC-PIP).

“Our work is only possible through the collective strength of our community: learners, partners and experts. Together, we continue to shape CPD that responds to emerging health-care needs and drives meaningful change,” says Howard.

Research that shapes responsive education

We recently received the 2025 Royal College Research Grant—allowing us to continue our mixed-methods research next year and explore physician wellbeing, learning goals and burnout, so that we can offer comprehensive CPD.
