Advancing HDC Discover to meet new CFPC Assessment Standards

Overview

To improve practice and patient care, health professionals in British Columbia (BC) require access to tools with accurate data and shared clinical experiences.

In response to the College of Family Physicians of Canada’s (CFPC) updated program and member requirements in December 2024, UBC CPD has partnered with the Health Data Coalition (HDC) to develop a CPD solution that harnesses the power of the online application, HDC Discover, to provide learners with new ways of engaging in data-enabled practice reflection.

A powerful data analysis tool

HDC Discover provides primary care physicians across BC with secure access to aggregated clinical data, while maintaining patient and physician confidentiality.

To continue to support physicians as they engage with practice data and self-reflection, HDC aims to facilitate activities where data analysis encourages professional development.

"The application provides valuable insights through better information, which means better care and patient outcomes," says UBC CPD Clinical Director and HDC Medical Director, Dr. Bruce Hobson. Learn about the benefits of HDC Discover.

Supporting HDC Discover

UBC CPD and HDC have begun a three-phase approach to blend accreditation protocol and software development cycles, to support the evolution of the HDC Discover Tool.

At present, UBC CPD is collecting needs assessment data to generate recommendations and identify next steps to develop the tools’ accreditation framework.
