Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Skills Physician Wellness Group Training
The Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Skills Physician Wellness Group Training Course is a free 8-week course designed to provide practicing BC physicians and nurse practitioners with education and training to support their own mental well-being through evidence-based self-management strategies. Secondary benefits include increased awareness of CBT and its clinical applications and training in skills coaching for patients.
Please note: These CBT Skills Cohorts are intended for continuing education purposes only. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety and would prefer to be in a treatment-oriented group, please contact Physician Health to attend a CBT group with them, covered by MSP. More information can be found here: https://www.physicianhealth.com/cbt-groups/ or you can reach them at @email.
FORMAT
The course is delivered virtually in real-time over the span of 8 weeks. Each week consists of a 2-hour session facilitated by a specially trained family physician or psychiatrist, which accommodates a maximum of 15 learners (with a solo facilitator) or 24 learners (with two facilitators) to maximize opportunities for group discussion and questions.
SKILLS GAINED
During the weekly workshops, participants will practice incorporating CBT Skills into their own unique situations. The program also requires reflective exercises and learners’ personal commitments to practice change, as well as weekly readings, resources and interactive content via an online portal.
REGISTRATION
CBT Skills Physician Wellness Groups are currently available only to physicians and nurse practitioners in British Columbia, Canada. At this time, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate any physicians/nurse practitioners located elsewhere, and/or non-physician or nurse practitioner healthcare providers who may be interested in the course.
All eligible physicians and nurse practitioners can benefit from the UBC CPD Physician Wellness Groups. Priority placement will be given to physicians from select regions who may be interested in proceeding with advanced facilitator training.
