  • Neuromotor Program Physician-to-Physician Consult Service (BC Children's Hospital)    
    This service provides community physicians with guidance and resources for making a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, and to assist with tone management. Referring physicians will be booked for a 20-minute phone or teleconference appointment with a neuromotor specialist.

  • Cerebral Palsy Early Diagnosis Clinic (BC Children's Hospital)    
    Provides examinations and assessments for the early detection and diagnosis of cerebral palsy in high-risk infants.
  • BC Early Motor Screening Program (BC Children's Hospital)    
    The Early Motor Screening Program is a provincial selective screening program that aims to identify babies who may develop motor conditions. An occupational therapist or physiotherapist conducts an assessment called “General Movements Assessment” (GMA). General Movements are movement patterns that can be observed during a specific time in a baby’s development.
  • CP Early Detection Tools: Prompts for Referral     
    A list of clinical red flags to help community physicians detect CP in infants as part of their well-baby care visits. A poster format is also available here.
  • Hip Surveillance Program (Child Health BC)    
    The Child Health BC Hip Surveillance Program for Children with Cerebral Palsy is the first province wide hip surveillance program of its kind in Canada. The Program aims to: (1) Ensure that children at risk for hip displacement receive appropriate screening to allow for early and appropriate management and (2) Facilitate the implementation of the recommended standard of care for hip surveillance into practice across the province.
  • Guide to Cerebral Palsy (BC Children's Hospital)    
    The Guide to Cerebral Palsy is a family-centred handbook written for parents and caregivers who have received a recent diagnosis of cerebral palsy for their child. A copy will be given to families during the appointment when appropriate.
  • Cerebral Palsy Association of BC    
    The Cerebral Palsy Association of British Columbia is a non-profit organization in BC. It offers a variety of services and resources specific for children and adults living with CP including adapted recreational activities, financial assistance, and family and individual support. Visit their website for information on education, programs, services, and other resources supporting people living with cerebral palsy and their families.
  • CP Early Intervention: Evidence Summary    
    Useful information about existing scientific research on early interventions for cerebral palsy.    
    For Clinicians: You will find a list of outcomes examined in the selected studies for a particular type and severity of CP, whether the intervention was more or not more effective than the comparison intervention (e.g., usual care), and the level of evidence. Find out more about the levels of evidence.    
    For Families: You will find answers to typical questions about existing interventions available for different types and severities of CP.
