We welcome 2024 with opportunities to connect and create together.  

A new season of learning is ushered in with education on enhanced technology and treatments for pediatric diabetes, updated learning on postpartum care and brand-new tools to support early diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. 

We mark the twentieth year of the virtual Hot Topics in Cardiology conference and share a brand-new interactive resource on clinical tools to provide care to children and youth experiencing substance use.  

This month, we’re joined by a visiting professor and a new member of the Conference team. We’re also recruiting a Research Associate — apply by Jan. 31.

A UBC CPD snapshot – reflecting on 2023 and embracing the year ahead 

We want to extend our gratitude to you for being an integral part of our community through participation in learning and collaboration as partners in 2023.  

This past year we hosted 50 conferences, more than 70 eLearning activities, a series of webinars, rounds, workshops and mentoring opportunities, welcoming more than 70,000 participants.  

With optimism for what this new year will bring, we’ve been reflecting on what it really means to belong and are making efforts to create meaningful moments online and in person with our partners and learners.

New technology and treatment options addressed in 9th Annual BC Pediatric Diabetes Day 

This in-person conference will address new technology and treatment approaches for pediatric diabetes through presentations on diet, exercise, disordered eating and more. Physicians, allied health professionals, residents and students are invited to network and work together to help standardize pediatric care throughout the province.

Updated and improved workshop for family physicians focuses on postpartum care   

UBC CPD has partnered with the Vancouver Division of Family Practice to create the virtual But I Don’t Do Maternity Care! Postpartum Essentials workshop. Learn how to diagnose and treat low milk supply in breastfeeding, communicate new safer sleep guidelines and more.

Brand new education on Cerebral Palsy diagnosis for community pediatricians 

UBC CPD launches a two-part training program to support community pediatricians in early diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, including a new algorithm and access to information on supporting families.

Hot Topics in Cardiology conference marks its 20th year  

In partnership with the UBC Division of Cardiology, UBC CPD presents the 20th year of this virtual cardiology conference where attendees will learn key updates on the management of cardiovascular disease and what is new in the field relevant to patient care.

Dr. Vernon Curran joins UBC CPD this January to initiate new research. Dr. Curran’s teaching and research focuses on digital health and learning in medicine, interprofessional education and collaboration in health professions and more.
