BC Cancer Primary Care Learning Sessions: Lung Cancer

Overview

This online course is for primary care providers (PCPs) practicing in British Columbia who are interested in learning more about lung cancer care and their role in supporting patients through their care journey. The course will explore the PCP's role in lung cancer care, as well as best practices in screening, treatment, and surveillance, using a tool called a journey map. 

Outline

This course is divided into three lessons:

  • Lesson 1: Prevention & Screening
  • Lesson 2: Diagnosis & Treatment
  • Lesson 3: Survivorship, Surveillance, & Late Effects
Learning objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify factors associated with increased risk of developing lung cancer
  • Describe the process for accessing lung cancer screening in BC
  • Cite red flag symptoms necessitating investigation for lung cancer
  • Describe the role of primary care in each stage of the lung cancer journey
  • Identify opportunities and resources for primary care to support patients along the lung cancer journey
