As technology becomes increasingly integrated into young people's lives, healthcare providers need practical strategies to recognize and address problematic screen use. In partnership with the Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Community of Practice, this webinar reviews current trends in youth screen use in BC, examines its effects on mental health and wellbeing, and provides evidence-informed tools for assessment, screening, and counselling of youth and families. The webinar features a panel of expert presenters, and attendees will have the chance to ask questions in real-time.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe current trends in youth screen use in BC and identify warning signs of problematic technology use.
- Recognize the potential impacts of problematic technology use on youth mental health and wellbeing.
- Apply evidence-informed approaches to screening, assessment, and patient counselling to support youth and families experiencing concerns related to screen use and process addictions.
