Erin Sloan (She/Her)
Dr. Erin Sloan is an Internal Medicine specialist in Vancouver with fellowship training in perioperative vascular medicine and board certification obesity medicine. Due to serial injuries, she transitioned from inpatient acute medical and perioperative care and retrained in obesity medicine. Dr. Sloan's current focus is on teaching, curriculum development, research and clinical training work. Her experience as a patient with pain, led Dr. Sloan to learn more about myofascial pain and scar release. Dr. Sloan has transitioned from patient, to provider, to instructor with the Anatomic Medicine Foundation. Dr. Sloan is working on a number of exciting research projects that integrate her interests in internal medicine, perioperative medicine, obesity medicine and myofascial pain, including in surgical patient optimization, such as prehabilitation and for patients with persistent postoperative pain. Having benefited immensely from coaches and mentors in her own life, Dr. Sloan is interested in supporting her physician colleagues as a mentor and coach. She is currently engaged in professional coach training to further refine her skills as a physician coach. Dr. Sloan is happy to discuss any of her clinical interests or experiences and to facilitate helpful personal and professional connections. Given her serial injuries, Dr. Sloan has personal experience with ICBC, WorkSafeBC, disability insurance/own occupation claims and understands how stressful, isolating and frustrating it can be when physicians become patients and career plans change abruptly. She is happy to speak about her experiences and to hold space for those who may be in a similar situation. Dr. Sloan welcomes the opportunity to help others, including but not limited to, those seeking clarity and fulfillment, colleagues who may be experiencing challenges, those in a place of transition personally or professionally, or physicians who are considering potential new career paths outside of traditional clinical roles. Outside of work, Dr. Sloan loves being out in the fresh air, spending time with her family, and curling up with a good book while her dog, “Shadow the Ninja”, keeps her feet warm.
