Ateshia York (She/Her)

Dr. Ateshia York is a Canadian Emergency physician working in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories, with a strong interest in mentorship, coaching, and medical education. As someone early in independent emergency practice, she understands the challenges of stepping into clinical autonomy—balancing efficiency, decision-making, and confidence while managing high-acuity, high-pressure situations.

Dr. York entered medicine as a second career and brings a practical, relatable perspective to professional growth, resilience, and navigating uncertainty. She is also a single mother of four, and values realistic strategies for work-life integration, time management, and building a sustainable career that supports both personal and professional goals.

With experience in rural and remote emergency settings across BC and the NWT, Dr. York is especially passionate about supporting clinicians working with limited resources, high responsibility, and evolving scopes of practice. Her approach is supportive, structured, and growth-oriented—blending encouragement with honest feedback and practical next steps. She welcomes students, residents, and physicians who are seeking mentorship, coaching, or guidance through transitions, whether that means improving clinical reasoning on shift, strengthening communication and leadership, preparing for rural practice, or building confidence in their role.
