Paediatric ADHD Care in British Columbia
A provincial needs assessment
Children and youth with ADHD often require coordinated, timely and ongoing support, but in BC, the experience of getting that care varies widely. Families report significant barriers to assessment and diagnosis. Health professionals describe uncertainty around referral pathways, scope of care and transitions to adult services. Clear, consistent care pathways are largely absent.
UBC Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD), funded by the Shared Care Committee, is conducting a provincial needs assessment to understand how paediatric ADHD care is currently delivered and experienced across BC. Findings will inform the development of a provincial clinical pathway to improve coordination, clarity and equity.
Join a focus group
We are hosting virtual focus groups in May and June 2026 and invite you to share your experiences to help improve paediatric ADHD care for everyone in BC.
We are running separate sessions for:
- family physicians and nurse practitioners
- nurses and allied health professionals
- parents and caregivers of children or youth diagnosed with paediatric ADHD
- parents and caregivers who pursued assessment for their child but did not receive a diagnosis
Each session is approximately 90 minutes.

Can't attend a session?
A province-wide survey is also available for clinicians and for patients and families. It takes approximately 10 minutes and is another meaningful way to contribute.
Looking ahead
Findings from this needs assessment will guide next steps, which may include a provincial paediatric ADHD clinical care pathway aligned with existing and emerging adult ADHD initiatives. What comes next will be shaped by what we learn here.
