Midwifery Best Practices in Materials Management
Overview
The purpose of this online course is to support midwives to have the requisite knowledge and skills to provide care in the community in accordance with universal precautions and infection prevention and control (IPAC) best practices.

- Preparing Critical Devices for MDRD Reprocessing
- Disinfecting Semi-critical Devices
- Reprocessing Non-critical Devices
- Safe Storage and Transport of Medications, Compressed Gas, and Biological Waste
- Applying IPAC Principles to Clinical and Home Birth Practice
- Home Birth Supplies Program
Learning objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the safe storage, transport and processing of reusable medical devices, medical waste, sharps and human tissue;
- Identify workflow set-ups that observes IPAC principles for clinic and homecare; and
- Describe special considerations for the storage and transport of medications and compressed gas.
