Hands-On Ultrasound Education (HOUSE) AMB - Vancouver
The Hands-On Ultrasound Education Ambulatory Care Course (HOUSE AMB) supports rural health care practitioners looking to improve their point-of-care ultrasound skillset. You will build your confidence in using point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) through hands-on learning sessions focused on IVC, Gallbladder, MSK, DVT, and more.
HOUSE Learning Objectives
- Describe the theoretical knowledge required to perform the selected point-of-care ultrasound applications;
- Demonstrate the manual skills required to perform the selected point-of-care ultrasound applications;
- Develop a point-of-care ultrasound long-term learning plan; and
- Safely incorporate POCUS into patient care.
Part 1: Online
Learners complete online modules prior to on-site learning.
Part 2: Hands-on Workshop
Learners complete on-site learning, including practicing scanning using live models and ultrasound equipment.

Hands-On Ultrasound Education is developed and delivered by the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s Division of Rural Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in partnership with the Rural Coordination Centre of BC, with funding support from the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues.
The Division of Continuing Professional Development, University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Committee (CACME) to provide CPD credits for physicians. This activity meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 10.5 Mainpro+® Certified Activity credits. Each physician should claim only those credits accrued through participation in the activity.
