Primary Care Procedural Skills: Hands-On Intensive Training Day
Strong primary care procedural skills can support timely assessment and management of commonly encountered conditions and help reduce wait times for specialty care. Primary Care Procedural Skills: Hands-On Intensive Training Day is an in-person workshop with practical training in common outpatient procedures. Designed for nurse practitioners and accredited for family physicians, this full-day course offers skills building for primary care settings.
Through focused teaching, live demonstrations and supervised skills stations, participants will develop skills in patient assessment, procedural decision-making, technical procedures and follow-up care. They will also have opportunities to practise procedures and receive individualized feedback to help apply their learning in clinical practice.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Perform common primary care outpatient procedures using current evidence-informed techniques and safety standards.
- Assess patients for the indications, contraindications, risks, and follow-up requirements of common procedures.
- Manage common complications and urgent situations associated with outpatient primary care procedures.
- Develop an appropriate initial management or referral plan based on examination findings.
- Evaluate personal procedural competence and identify ongoing learning needs related to outpatient primary care procedures.

The Division of Continuing Professional Development reserves the right to cancel an educational program three weeks prior to the course date.
