This series of hybrid lectures is focused on intensive care skills topics for rural providers. The 2026 TRICS program runs from August 24th to November 20th and aims to increase the comfortability with and use of intensive care skills for rural-based health professionals.

1. Demonstrate a systematic approach to the assessment and initial management of acute kidney injury in the context of PRRH
2. Demonstrate an understanding of how nephrology services are organized in the Northern Health Region
3. Demonstrate an understanding of how referral and transfer processes are best implemented for patients presenting to rural sites who may require a higher level of nephrology input

Gastroenterology and hepatology

1. Demonstrate a structured approach to the assessment, investigation and further management of the patient presenting to a rural hospital with hepatic pathology
2. Display an understanding of the common, less common and rarer ethology of liver disease in northern B.C.
3. Demonstrate an approach to the evaluation, resuscitation and stabilization and appropriate disposition for the patient presenting to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital with upper GI hemorrhage
