Orthopaedics for Primary Care Virtual Series

Family physicians and nurse practitioners are often the first point of contact for patients presenting with musculoskeletal concerns. This evening series is designed to build confidence in management and support learners with when to refer. Each session will begin with two orthopaedic specialists who will review key clinical essentials, evidence-informed management approaches, and important red flags that warrant specialist referral. The session will conclude with an interactive case-based discussion featuring both presenters, incorporating audience-submitted questions and clinical scenarios.
Overall Learning Objectives
By the end of the series, participants will be better equipped to:
• Recognize common musculoskeletal conditions that can be managed in primary care.
• Identify red flags requiring urgent investigation or specialist referral.
• Apply practical assessment and treatment strategies within the primary care setting.
• Navigate common barriers to diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
• Utilize evidence-informed tools and resources to support patient care.
