    • Overview

      This online module is for all health care providers that care for children, especially those who do so infrequently, and want to refresh or build their pediatric skills and knowledge.

    • Outline

      This course is divided into 3 lessons:

      • The Fundamentals of Pediatrics
      • The Pediatric Assessment
      • The Principles of Pediatric Medication Administration

      By the end of this course, you will be able to:

      • Describe the principles that make up Patient Centered & Family Focused Care
      • Recognize the concepts that guide Culturally Sensitive & Trauma Informed Practice
      • Identify the five childhood stages in terms of growth and development
      • Utilize age appropriate assessment and communication techniques
      • Identify the anatomical and physiological differences between children and adults
      • Define the components of a complete pediatric physical assessment
      • Recognize the normal fluid requirements of pediatric patients
      • Identify the components of a safe medication order
      • Calculate safe medication dosing

      The Division of Continuing Professional Development, University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Committee (CACME) to provide CPD credits for physicians.
