CAMP Coach/Mentor Skill Development
UBC Rural CPD Coaching and Mentoring Program (CAMP) is proud to offer registered participants the opportunity to learn and develop key coaching and mentoring skills through Coach/Mentor Skill Development.
In each virtual session, experienced physician coaches will provide a short didactic presentation followed by an opportunity for you to practice using the coaching/mentoring skill with your peers. These sessions are designed to help you build confidence, ask questions, share your experience, and connect with other coaches/mentors.
Eligibility
Physician, midwife or nurse coaches/mentors licensed in British Columbia and enrolled in the Coaching and Mentoring Program (CAMP), the Rural Obstetrical and Maternity Sustainability Program (ROAM-SP), Clinical Faculty Mentoring, IMG Peer Support Network and/or Provincial Physician QI Coaching Program.
One-and-a-half-hour sessions in which facilitators provide a lesson and an opportunity to practice the following coaching and mentoring skills:
Getting Started with a QI Project

Quality improvement starts with curiosity about how care can be better. In this session, we will examine the foundations of quality improvements and explore practical steps for supporting peers with identifying opportunities and turning ideas into actionable projects.

Orientation/Coaching 101 (2-hour session)

This is a two-hour session geared towards new coaches/mentors. Facilitators review administrative program details, then provide a lesson and an opportunity to practice co-creating a safe and successful coaching partnership.

Expressive Ways of Working

Implementation & Practice

Practice and implement the coaching and mentoring skills from this season! It is recommended to have joined previous sessions to attend.

Free. CAMP will be compensating registered CAMP participants at a stipend of $50/hr.
The Coach/Mentor Skill Development Sessions are accredited for up to 14 Mainpro+ Group Learning and MOC Section 1 credit per year. Participants receive CME credits for session attendance and certificates are issued on an annual basis.
The project was developed and is operated by the UBC Faculty of Medicine's Division of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in partnership with the Rural Coordination Centre of BC. Funding for CAMP was provided by the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues, a joint committee of the Doctors of BC and BC Ministry of Health.
The Division of Continuing Professional Development, University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Committee (CACME) to provide CPD credits for physicians.
This activity is an Accredited Group Learning (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program (MOC) of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by UBC CPD. You may claim a maximum of 14.00 hours (credits are automatically calculated).
This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 14.00 Mainpro+® credits. Each physician should claim only those credits accrued through participation in the activity.
