Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Skills Physician Wellness Group Training Course — Cohort D
The Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Skills Physician Wellness Group Training Course is an eight-week course designed to provide BC physicians and nurse practitioners (NPs) with education and training to support their own mental wellbeing through evidence-based self-management strategies. Secondary benefits include increased awareness of CBT and its clinical applications and training in skills coaching for patients.
The course is delivered virtually in real-time over the span of eight weeks. Each week consists of a two-hour session facilitated by a specially trained family physician or psychiatrist. During small-group weekly workshops, participants will practice incorporating CBT Skills into their unique situations. The course requires reflective exercises and learners’ personal commitments to practice change. Learners will access an online portal with weekly readings, resources and interactive content to support their learning. Questions can be sent to the facilitator(s) via chat.
Multiple offerings are available each quarter, and we encourage you to select the cohort that best fits your availability and learning needs. Additional dates and times can be viewed below. Please note that you are not able to register for more than one cohort.
Eligibility: The CBT Skills Physician Wellness Group Training Course can only be offered to actively practicing physicians and NPs in BC, Canada. This means that at this time we are unfortunately unable to accommodate any physicians/NPs located elsewhere, and/or non-physician or NP health professionals who may be interested in the course. Thank you for your understanding.
Please note: These CBT Skills Cohorts are intended for continuing education purposes only. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety and would prefer to be in a treatment-oriented group, physicians are encouraged to contact Physician Health to attend a CBT group with them, covered by MSP. Kindly note that unlike UBC CPD group training courses described on this page, only BC physicians are eligible for treatment-oriented CBT groups with the Physician Health Program. More information can be found here, or you can reach the Physician Health Program at @email.
This course will teach you concepts and strategies that will enhance your capacity to:
- practice resiliency amidst the complexities of modern work and life
- understand and manage unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving — yours and your patients'
- choose how to respond to stressors, rather than react
- share pertinent and practical skills with your patients
- connect with peers in an authentic and supportive way
Facilitated by Dr. Trish Snozyk: Trish is a Family Physician in Victoria. She believes that what makes people optimally healthy (no matter their diagnoses) comes from their attitudes and their emotional resilience. She absolutely believes that wellness can be learned! Her practice is an eclectic one including technical work as a surgical assistant with the Head and Neck service at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, plus an office practice devoted to the exploration and treatment of metabolic issues such as obesity, diabetes and PCOS. In addition, since 2013 she has been teaching groups of patients, physicians and medical students mindfulness skills and mental health tools they can use to revitalize their emotional fitness and improve their lives.
Partial funding support continues to offset the full cost of the program.
Cancellations must be made in writing to @email by Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026 to be eligible for a refund and will be subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee. Refunds are not provided for cancellations made after this date.
