Dr. Chris Morrow lives in Victoria on the traditional and unceded territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. He was born in Northern Ireland and immigrated to Canada as a young child.

He studied biology at the University of Victoria and medicine at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He then completed his family practice residency at the University of Calgary.  

Dr. Morrow has over 25 years of clinical and didactic teaching experience and has enjoyed an initial career of full-spectrum family practice in an isolated rural community. He practiced urban family medicine on Vancouver Island before specializing in emergency medicine — he has worked as an emergency physician in Victoria for the last twenty years. Dr. Morrow also has a practice in skin and cutaneous surgery (lumps and bumps).

Dr. Morrow has held numerous administrative and leadership roles in the Faculty of Medicine, the health authority and the community, including Director of Trauma Services, Clinical Lead (Site Chief) of Emergency Medicine, Division Head Emergency Medicine, Director Physician Education Program and Business Lead for Victoria Emergency Physician Medical Society. He is also a Portfolio Site Lead and Master Teacher in the Island Medical Program.

Dr. Morrow and his team at the Island Medical Program have created a novel Physician Education Program (PEP) to deliver innovative, needs-based and multidisciplinary learning opportunities, with a focus on interprofessional education, simulation, Indigenous and patient led education and office or community-based in situ learning.

Dr. Morrow has a passion for CPD and strives to develop unique and engaging learning opportunities that serve the evolving needs of health professionals. He is committed to the principles of collaboration, humility and equity and hopes to help improve health-care outcomes, experiences and support for our communities and clinicians.

As Director, CPD, Jackie works closely with senior leaders, faculty and partners in the strategic leadership of continuing professional development initiatives. Jackie oversees the administrative functions of the unit while leading a diverse team of CPD professionals in support of our vision and mission.  

Jackie brings more than two decades of experience in professional development, corporate training, program delivery, operations, business development and client management. She joins UBC CPD from the UBC Sauder School of Business Executive Education where she led the Client Engagement team. She is known for creating innovative learning solutions that enable organizations to achieve their strategic objectives. Jackie also has experience and insight into medical education through her work with the Sauder Physician Leadership Program.  

A lifelong advocate of personal and professional development she is an avid reader and in her spare time enjoys exploring the outdoors on hikes with her husband and two teenaged daughters. 

JoAnna Cassie is the Accreditation Coordinator at UBC Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD), where she brings over a decade of experience guiding physicians and health professionals through the complexities of accreditation and certification for CPD programs. She specializes in interpreting and applying accreditation standards of both specialty and family medicine to ensure practical and accurate implementation. Her approach emphasizes accreditation as a learning opportunity and promotes reflection on its role in maintaining the integrity of CPD within a self-regulated profession. JoAnna holds a degree in Nutritional Sciences and a Master of Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia, which strengthens her ability to support effective, evidence-based CPD through thorough evaluation and application of accreditation standards.

Emily joined the Division in January 2019. Prior to joining UBC CPD, she worked for the Government of Canada as a Constituency Assistant for a Member of Parliament, and was also the Office Manager at a private tutoring centre. Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a double major In Political Science and Asian Studies from the University of British Columbia.

Marlena joined the UBC CPD team as the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, in 2021. She leads marketing and communications initiatives and strategy, engages with our audiences, builds new relationships with our partners and supports the ongoing business operations across UBC CPD.

Marlena has held leadership positions in post-secondary education and has extensive experience in non-profit environments. She holds a Master of Arts in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University where her research focused on video activism in Canadian media.

When she’s not working to connect with CPD learners, Marlena can be found going for long walks with her dog or cooking up a storm in her kitchen.

Avani is a UBC graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In addition to experience as editor-in-chief for UBC's literary journal, she brings years of experience deploying marketing and communications tactics.

As the Web and Communications Specialist, Avani reinforces our vision through storytelling, implements web projects that recount our dedicated partnerships and works closely with our web development team to ensure our systems comply to UBC standards. 

Saniya holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with additional post-graduate education in journalism, public relations and communications management. She has six years of marketing and communications experience, including social media, email and web content management. Saniya is responsible for the online engagement of audiences in our diverse health community.  

Saniya embodies our values as a learning organization. She loves to travel, practices yoga and has a passion for gardening.    

Diya is a graduate from the SFU Beedie School of Business, where she specialized in Marketing and International Business. She has expertise in graphic design, content creation, web analytics and social media. Diya has a strong track record of leading engagement projects and collaborating with diverse teams. In her role as the Digital Marketing Associate, she supports content creation across email, social media and web channels, and assists with registration services.

Passionate about education, Diya is keen to contribute to continuing professional development initiatives. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, playing golf, practising piano and spending time with her dog. 

Sunny is an administrative professional with more than seven years in operations, office administration, financial and HR management, and process optimization. Sunny is familiar with the post-secondary and professional development landscape, has direct experience with contract oversight, onboarding and offboarding, financial compliance, workplace safety and optimizing IT systems.

As Administrative Manager, Sunny oversees a small team in support of our business operations. In her spare time, Sunny enjoys international travel and yoga.

Camilla holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from Simon Fraser University. Passionate about supporting people and meaningful causes, Camilla has a strong background in social services in the non-profit sector and holds experience coordinating and delivering programs that support children and youth. Outside of work, she loves to hang out with her dog, Sgt. Pepper, enjoys spending time in nature and is an avid backcountry camping enthusiast. 

Mylamar holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a post-graduate diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics. She brings over five years of administrative and operations experience in higher education, with expertise in process improvement, customer service, project management and supporting complex workflows. As Registration Specialist, Mylamar supports registration systems and portals, responds to learner inquiries, manages data and reporting, and ensures smooth operations across UBC CPD programs. 

When she’s not supporting learners, Mylamar enjoys discovering new places and giving pets to every adorable fur baby she meets.

Hannah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UBC, specializing in interpersonal development, and is a Certified Career Strategist. She brings extensive experience supporting learners across educational and health-care settings, with strengths in creating positive learner experiences, office administration, mentoring, program delivery and event coordination.

As Registration and Events Associate, Hannah supports registration systems management and documentation, maintains accurate learner records and reporting, and contributes to event coordination and communication across UBC CPD programs. 

Outside of work, Hannah can often be found with a cat in her lap or taking part in creative modelling photoshoots around the city!

Lindsay leads our professional educational conference team and primarily oversees the development of our educational conferences from concept to execution. The conference team plans and delivers over 50 conferences annually using various formats including hybrid and virtual delivery. 

Michelle completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications from the University of Victoria, as well as a Diploma in Hospitality Management from Vancouver Island University. Michelle comes to us with over 15 years of conference and event management experience. Michelle is a self-proclaimed ‘nerd’ and loves computers and anything 'techie'. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, exploring new restaurants, and indulging her dog Rambo with muddy walks around town.

Judy completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Food, Nutrition and Health from UBC.  She joined the UBC CPD team in 2014.   

Ciara holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from University College Dublin and a Master of Science in Event Management from Technological University Dublin. Additionally, she has pursued continuing education in Structured Project Management at UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies.

Ciara holds a decade of experience as an event planner in the dynamic event and service industry. She has excelled in managing multiple events simultaneously — ensuring seamless execution and an exceptional guest experience. As the Conference Coordinator, Ciara expresses a passion for event planning, strong organizational skills, attention to detail and commitment to outstanding customer service.

Olive joined UBC CPD in 2003 and primarily helps organize a variety of conferences and courses.  This includes multi-day meetings, in-person workshops, and virtual conferences/webinars.  Olive currently works part-time (Monday, Wednesday, & Friday) and enjoys time with her family on her days off.  

Desiree completed a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from De La Salle University Philippines. She brings her administration experience from the education and non-profit sectors.  

Cherie is a Conference Services Coordinator and manages events from concept execution. Cherie completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia.  She joined the division in 2012.

Heather holds extensive experience from roles at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the University of Waterloo, where she managed full-cycle event delivery for conferences—while collaborating across teams, overseeing logistics, and maintaining a reputation for calm and solutions-driven execution.
 
With postgraduate training in Event Management from Conestoga College, a BA in Geography and Sociology from the University of Guelph, and Project Management certification from UBC, Heather brings strong operational expertise and a passion for creating meaningful, seamless event experiences.

Kate Campbell joined UBC CPD with a unique background in both science and art. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology, formal fine art training from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and a Master of Science in Biomedical Communications from the University of Toronto. Working as a professional biomedical communicator, Kate has experience creating unique and informed visualizations and interactive tools that help individuals better understand, communicate, and teach medical and science topics.

As the Senior Manager, Creative Learning, Kate provides leadership, strategic planning, and management of instructional design and digital learning technology at UBC CPD. The Creative Learning portfolio supports projects across the unit by providing pedagogical consultation and oversight for the design and development of innovative learning experiences and comprehensive solutions for a range of educational activities. Working closely with content experts and alongside a team of talented designers and creatives, the Creative Learning portfolio designs and develops instructional media and immersive learning experiences for health care providers.

Katherine brings with her a wealth of experience in design and visual storytelling. Her journey to UBC CPD began with the creation of a medical education tool designed for BC IMGs, a project she initiated alongside her sister, who is an IMG herself. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture, both earned at UBC's School of Architecture. Her approach to a challenge is one through empathy, using contextual research and drawing insights to create impactful solutions and visual narratives. Through her career, Katherine has collaborated with universities, museums, and world renowned exhibitions to create and educate through design. Her professional background in design offices equips her with expertise in project production, where she adeptly utilizes digital and analog tools to craft captivating experiences.

Now, at UBC CPD, Katherine leverages her design as a powerful educational tool, enriching the learning experience for healthcare practitioners.

Yona brings extensive curriculum development and instructional design expertise to her role at UBC CPD, with a special focus on health care. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Queen's University and a Master of Science in Biomedical Communications from the University of Toronto, Yona uniquely combines scientific insight with visual arts to enhance the learning and teaching of medicine and science. Her career includes collaborations with government agencies, health authorities, museums, and NGOs, producing diverse educational tools such as eLearning modules, scientific illustrations, educational games, animations, medical websites, and virtual workshops.

As a Learning & Curriculum Manager, Yona works closely with content experts to design, develop, and refine educational programs that cater to health professionals and their teams, ensuring that learning experiences are impactful and accessible.

Julia Donahue brings expertise in adult learning, instructional design and educational technology to her role at UBC CPD. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science and a Master of Adult Education, with a passion for applying learning science to create engaging and effective educational experiences. 

Throughout her career, Julia has designed and led large-scale learning initiatives spanning leadership development, onboarding, curriculum design and digital learning. As a Learning & Curriculum Manager, she partners with physicians, researchers and subject matter experts to develop continuing professional development programs that support health care professionals. She is passionate about translating complex information into practical, learner-centred education that supports lifelong learning. 

Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Interactive Arts and Technology with a concentration of Interaction Design from Simon Fraser Univeristy. She utilizes her background in illustration and interaction design to bring out the important narratives of our online courses and create an immersive learning experiences that is enjoyable for primary care providers.

Angela is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, with a minor in Print and Digital Publishing. Her experience spans UX/UI, visual communication and front-end development, which she brings to her role at UBC CPD to create clear and engaging learning experiences.

Outside of her work and studies, Angela enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring new places to eat, and finding good food and desserts to share.

Dr. Adam Gavarkovs worked in the Office of CPD at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University as an educational developer, an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a Centre Researcher in the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation. Adam received his PhD in Health Policy, Management and Evaluation with a concentration in Health Professions Education from the University of Toronto in 2023. Prior to earning his PhD, Adam received a master's degree in Population Health Sciences from Harvard University in 2019.  

As the Research Associate, Adam will lead the development of a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program of research to advance the research goals set out in our strategic plan, contributing to the quality improvement process and demonstrating the effectiveness of CPD. He will support staff and faculty interested in CPD research, including designing methodology, analyzing data, reporting findings and will also initiate his own research. Adam has been appointed to the UBC Department of Family Practice and works closely with the Centre for Health Education Scholarship and our visiting professor, Dr. Vernon Curran, to ensure that new and ongoing research projects are supported.  

Laura is the Senior Manager for the Rural Program at UBC CPD, a diverse portfolio of projects that support physicians and other health professionals who practice in rural, remote and Indigenous communities in British Columbia. Laura has worked with UBC CPD in various roles since 2014, and has a keen interest in supporting lifelong learning through relationship-based approaches to education and training. Laura holds a Master of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Health Administration from the University of British Columbia.

Emily joined the Rural CPD team in 2018 and currently manages the Coaching and Mentoring Programs. She brings extensive experience in event and program management, having worked in both the public and private sectors. 

Passionate about fostering growth and development, Emily earned a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University. Her capstone research focused on strategies to support rural physician thriving, highlighting her commitment to improving the health and well-being of people and communities in rural BC. 

Emily's career has also taken her abroad, where she held educational roles in both the UK and China. As an avid traveler, she enjoys exploring new places and incorporating global perspectives into her work. Outside of work, Emily likes spending time outdoors with her family, hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. 

Erica earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of British Columbia. She has over five years of experience in hospitality, health care, education and technology sectors, spanning roles in customer service, student support, patient care and program management. Erica enjoys meeting with Rural communities across BC to learn about their unique needs for ultrasound education and how she can best support them. 

Nicole earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University and started her career in the health fundraising sector before shifting to event/conference production locally and abroad. Her program planning skills are useful in planning and delivering education that is tailored to the unique needs of rural, remote, and Indigenous communities as part of UBC CPD's Rural Program. Someone who values lifelong learning herself, Nicole is a proud graduate of the 2020-22 cohort of UBC's Master of Health Administration program at the School of Population and Public Heath. Here, she enjoyed expanding her knowledge of our complex health-care system and tackling relevant issues alongside an inter-professional group of health-care providers and change agents.

Tanya is working with health professionals in the UBC CPD Coaching and Mentoring Program (CAMP) as the Program Coordinator.

She has experience in coordinating and supervising research, projects and events in a variety of sectors and countries. Graduating from King’s College London, UK, with a M.A. in International Peace and Security, her thesis focuses on gender, inclusion and transitional justice.

Previously working for not-for-profit organizations, the private and service sectors, Tanya hopes to continue her passion in continuous learning, intersectionality and her understanding of health equity. She is excited to use her experience to help foster connections in rural practitioner networks and leave people and places better than she found them.

Growing up in Thailand, Tanya is a foodie and spends most of her free time daydreaming about street food and the beach.

Hadas is a Master of Management and dual Bachelor of Science graduate (in Biology and in Food Nutrition and Health), excited to apply her knowledge and skills to support medical professionals in providing safe, efficient, high-quality health care. 

As a CPD concierge in the Personal Learning Plans program, Hadas supports physicians who are new to rural practice and International Medical Graduates as they transition into their new community of practice. Previously, Hadas also coordinated virtual and in-person workshops including the Cannabis Education for Healthcare Providers, Communication Course for Health Professionals and FAST Evidence workshops, as well as webinars and rounds. 

Hadas enjoys camping and travelling the world with her family, reading and painting.

Hareem holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia, with a major in Visual Arts. She first joined the Rural CPD team as an Administrative Assistant, before heading to Ontario in 2022 to pursue a Master of Professional Communication degree from Toronto Metropolitan University. Following the completion of her degree, she returned to UBC CPD to continue supporting health professionals on their continuing education journey. As a member of the Rural CPD team, Hareem has supported various programs, including the Rural Rounds Education Hub, Real-Time Virtual Support (RTVS) Simulations, and Virtual Health Grand Rounds. She currently coordinates education for the Hands-On Ultrasound Education (HOUSE) program. Hareem is passionate about exploring how technology can be integrated into education in new and innovative ways.    

As an Education Manager, Lisa primarily supports the delivery of Real Time Virtual Support (RTVS) Simulations and Distributed Learning opportunities, such as Rural Rounds and Virtual Health Grand Rounds. Lisa has been with the UBC CPD team for two years, and previously supported the Rural Peer Support Network as a Sr. Program Assistant. Lisa has experience coordinating a wide variety of projects and events in a range of settings, including hospitality, the not-for-profit sector and municipal government.  She is dedicated to using her aptitude for connecting with others to foster partner relationships, facilitate education and provide support for rural health practitioners.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Health Science degree with a specialization in Health Promotion from the University of Western Ontario. She is passionate about empowering communities to create positive change and is excited to work to improve the health of those in rural communities through her position at UBC CPD.  As a lifelong learner, she intends to continue her education with UBC and also values the many lessons to be learned out in the world. You can find Lisa listening to the birds, hiking, cooking or reading on her free time.

Since 2015, Ang has been advancing collaborative practice and health education in various roles at UBC, including supervising Outreach Programs in the School of Kinesiology, championing interprofessional education at UBC Health, and serving as the Interim Team Lead and Assessment Analyst of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Provincial Learner Assessment Team (PLAT) in the Faculty of Medicine. 

After completing a Health Sciences degree in Kinesiology from Western University and a Project Management Certificate, she has taken part-time graduate studies in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology at UBC. 

As an Education Manager at UBC Rural CPD, Angela leads projects within our supportive relationships programs, primarily Personal Learning Plans and the FPA Journal Club.
 
Ang volunteers with the Squamish Search and Rescue team in her spare time, helping lost or injured people.

As Senior Program Assistant, Audrey collaborates on Rural Rounds and Real-Time Virtual Support (RTVS) Simulation programs at UBC CPD. 

Audrey holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Health degree with a focus in Community Health from UBC. She previously worked as a Special Projects Assistant with the UBC Drone Transport Initiative, where she supported research work, event coordination and project administration.

Matteo attended UBC for a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Master of Public Health with a focus in evaluation. During his graduate practicum, he collaborated with SpencerCreo to evaluate their employment support program, which offers wrap-around support to peer employees of overdose prevention sites in the Downtown Eastside. As Research and Program Assistant, Matteo supports the Indigenous Patient Led CPD Program and other research activities. 

Prior to his graduate studies, he worked in research assistant roles at UBC, BC Children’s Hospital, and the BC Centre for Disease Control. In his free time, he enjoys playing piano, collaborating musically, reading, spending time with family and friends, and exploring nature.

Jennie is currently the Senior Manager, Strategic Projects and Partnerships, covering Kathryn Young’s leave until summer 2026. Jennie has extensive experience leading teams to create meaningful education for health professionals. She combines 20 years’ experience as a leader and health professions’ education expert with a thirst for continuous learning and development. Jennie is passionate about the transformative power of education and has a proven track record creating and sustaining multi-organizational collaborations and relationships that achieve tangible improvements to health care in British Columbia and beyond.

Jennie joined UBC CPD in 2012 and worked in numerous roles, including the Director, CPD (2020-2022) and previously as the Senior Manager, Strategic Projects and Partnerships (2019). Jennie worked as a consultant for UBC CPD from 2022-2025, overseeing the successful completion of the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) review. Jennie holds an MA in Human Development, Learning and Culture from UBC; her thesis examined family physicians’ experiences of and motivation for CPD. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Manchester in the UK and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Kathryn is Senior Manager for UBC CPD's Strategic Projects and Partnerships, a diverse suite of specialized continuing education offerings for healthcare providers. She has a passion for building relationships, strategic planning and continuous learning. Since joining the UBC CPD team in 2014, Kathryn has managed a variety of projects, including Rural CPD Program's Supportive Relationships offerings, Hands-On Ultrasound Education (HOUSE), the International Medical Graduate (IMG) Programs, and the ICBC Education Project.

Kathryn earned a BA in Anthropology from the State University of New York at Geneseo, followed by a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Denver. She is originally from upstate New York and before her time at UBC CPD, she worked in museums and the book publishing world.

Allison (she/her) joined UBC CPD in 2013 as a Research Assistant and is now in the role of Program Manager. She is passionate about health education and continuous learning, and is excited to be part of a group of dedicated and experienced professionals in a learning organization. Allison holds a Masters of Applied Science from the University of Sydney, Australia, where she conducted research on sexual health education in schools, and has expertise in adult education, curriculum design, and program evaluation. 

As Program Manager, Allison collaborates with content experts to design, develop, and improve education for health care professionals and their teams. Some of her programs include the NP CPD Program, Midwifery CPD Program, Child and Youth Substance Use Program, and several other educational development projects. 

As Education Manager, Bee (she/they) supports the Midwifery CPD Program. They join the UBC CPD team with a unique background as an interdisciplinary learning experience designer and former learner in both paramedicine and midwifery. She has a Master of Educational Technology and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership and Policy. 

Charlotte (she, her) joined UBC CPD in July 2022. As Project Manager with the Strategic Projects & Partnerships team, she oversees UBC CPD's International Medical Graduates (IMGs) programs. Charlotte holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Geography and an MA in Urban Planning. Charlotte has been with UBC for ten years and has worked extensively in program design and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining UBC CPD, she served as the Executive Director for a non-profit organization called Basics for Health Society, and as a YMCA program manager in child, youth, and health programs. She brings with her a passion for health equity and health care system change and looks forward to fostering positive change through her work in continuing education for health care providers.

Caldon supports several SPP projects at UBC CPD. He completed his BA in Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University where he focused his academic research on social determinants of health. 

Caldon is passionate about supporting public health systems and creating environments conducive to optimal well-being. His previous professional experience encompasses peer-supported learning, tutoring, and the application of a health promotion framework to knowledge translation and strategic planning. 

Luke Wu, a UBC graduate with experience working in clinical research, has joined the Strategic Projects & Partnerships portfolio to coordinate the PRA-BC Assessor Training and Centralized Orientation and the CBT Skills program.

In his spare time, Luke enjoys cooking for friends and family. 

Maya has several years of experience supporting health-care education programs in academic hospital settings. At Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital, she coordinated simulation-based medical education and contributed to program operations, evaluation and continuous improvement in collaboration with physicians, educators, administrators and learners.
 
Maya holds a Bachelor of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia and is a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). Her background blends data-informed thinking with hands-on program coordination, from scheduling and logistics to improving documentation, websites and systems. 

Sarah (she, her) joined UBC CPD in September 2014 with a background in education psychology, adult education and curriculum development. She is a Certified Professional in CPD (Healthcare) awarded through the Coalition for Physician Learning and Practice Improvement.  

In her role, Sarah manages and consults on a number of projects across the Division. Using her expertise in CPD, collaborative project planning and facilitative leadership, Sarah partners with provincial and national health-care leaders to design practical and impactful learner-centered solutions addressing societal and health care needs.

Sarah is passionate about lifelong learning and strives to facilitate positive change in continuing health professional education through curiosity, empathy and humility. Specifically, Sarah has a special interest in and advocates for meaningful engagement of patient voices in CPD initiatives. 

Since Stephanie (she/her) joined UBC CPD in February 2012, she has brought a collaborative lens to her work and specializes in developing quality education that is timely and responsive to the needs of health care providers in BC. She is a connector and is skilled in her approach to managing people and projects offering individualized, honest and effective outcomes.  

Stephanie has a special interest in advancing social determinants of health indicators for vulnerable populations and volunteers locally and internationally in these areas.  

Steph (she, her) joined the UBC CPD team in July 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Sussex, UK, and has subsequently worked in the UK, New Zealand and Canada. Steph currently coordinates the BC Physician Integration Program (BC-PIP) for International Medical Graduates (IMGs). She also leads two webinar partnerships, as well as This Changed My Practice. In her free time, Steph enjoys camping and hiking.

Jasmine is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia, majoring in psychology and speech sciences.

Jasmine is informed by their previous experiences in event administration, data analysis and marketing. She provides support to a variety of UBC CPD’s programs and events, including webinars and workshops, This Changed My Practice (TCMP) and International Medical Graduate (IMG) programs. Driven by her passion to contribute to health education and advancements in its accessibility, she supports these initiatives through professional communication, administration and research.

Kim began her career as a nurse and became a midwife in 1996, after 16 years of nursing practice. She is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the UBC Midwifery Program. Kim is a gifted educator and a strong advocate for the midwifery profession on the provincial and national levels. UBC CPD established a formal CPD program for midwifery in 2017 in partnership with the Midwives Association of BC, the UBC Midwifery Program, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. This partnership moves forward a key aspect of UBC CPD’s strategic plan, which is to offer expanded CPD support to other health professions in the Faculty of Medicine.

Since graduating from the UBC's inaugural Bachelor of Midwifery class in 2005, Lindsay found and fostered a passion for interprofessional education. She enjoys working with midwives, doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics when facilitating courses like the Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Fetal Health Surveillance, Midwifery Emergency Skills Program (MESP) and Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM). She is now an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Midwifery undergraduate program at UBC. 

Lindsay is particularly interested in curriculum development and the promotion of optimal pre-hospital care. She is excited to support the continuing professional development of midwives and perinatal providers in British Columbia and beyond. 

Dr. Bruce Hobson was a full service family practitioner in Powell River, his home town, for 37 years. He has been married for 41 years and has three children and is a grandfather of six-year-old triplets, a five and a two year old. He is an avid cyclist and loves travel. He now lives in North Cowichan so that he can be closer to his kids and grandkids.

He has a passion for technology enhanced adult learning and education. He is currently involved with a number of organizations, as a Medical Director with Health Data Coalition, a peer mentor and program developer with PSP and Doctors of BC, a member involved with developing clinical guidelines with the Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee, and has worked with various others including BC Cancer Agency, PHSA, ICBC, WorkSafe and PainBC.

He has several roles with UBC CPD, including Medical Director for Program Standards, Senior Medical Lead for the Rural Support Network, and Medical Lead for ICBC and PSP Modules.

Since the completion of her residency in 2004, Dana has worked as a rural family physician in Stewart, Port Alice, and now Comox, BC, and continue to love the challenge and variety of this work. She has been involved in a number of innovative educational initiatives, including work as a PSP GP Champ, co-lead on a UBC family medicine residency pilot program, and work on a number of physician leadership projects with the Rural and Remote Division of Family Practice including a quality improvement project aiming to re-design MHSU services in five rural communities. She is keen to bring a rural lens to the forefront of medical education, healthcare discussions, and quality improvement projects. 

Dr. Steve Wong completed his MD degree at the University of Calgary. He joined the Internal Medicine residency program at the University of British Columbia and completed a fifth year in the General Internal Medicine Fellowship with a focus on perioperative medicine.

Dr. Wong has developed a number of courses aimed at bridging technology, evidence-based medicine and clinical practice as the Program Director for Technologies in Medicine at the UBC Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD).

Currently in practice in Vancouver at the Seymour Clinic and in Richmond, BC as a General Internist, Dr. Wong’s clinical interests include hypertension, lipids, cardiology and global management of diabetics. In addition to practicing at Richmond Hospital, he also attends on the clinical teaching unit at VGH and has trainees 12 months a year integrated into all of his practice environments.

Dr. Steven Yau completed his B.Sc., B.Ed and MD at the University of British Columbia.  He then finished his specialty training in family medicine also at UBC in Victoria, BC.  He is currently practicing as an inner-city physician for Vancouver Coastal Health providing primary and addiction care in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. As a former high school teacher, Dr. Yau continues to be passionate about lifelong learning and medical education. He has been the Medical Director for IMG Programs at CPD since 2014 and oversees two provincial programs: BC Physicians Integration Program (BC-PIP) and Practice Ready Assessment (PRA-BC), both designed to provide various support for new to practice IMG physicians in British Columbia.  

Dr. Kelvin Bei is a seasoned nurse practitioner, doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and health-care leader. He is a strong advocate for team-based primary care with over a decade of experience working in community health centers in rural and urban settings. His current practice is at RISE Community Health Centre, serving folks in the Joyce-Collingwood neighbourhood.

Kelvin wears many leadership hats, one of which is as the Vancouver and Coastal Regional Lead with the Nurse Practitioner Provincial Initiatives Program (PIP). Passionate about education, he is a faculty member at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) and UBC Family Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine. 

As the Nurse Practitioner (NP) CPD Director, Kelvin is very excited to support the continuing professional development of NPs through establishing a formal program with UBC CPD, in partnership with the Nurse Practitioner Provincial Initiatives and Programs (NP PIP).

Outside of work, he enjoys forest bathing and savouring a cup of good oolong tea.

Sofia has most recently been the Physician Program Advisor for the Learning and Connecting department at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, where she led quality improvement of learning frameworks and guided the implementation of learning needs for fellows. Her expertise in coaching led her to develop and implement the Royal College coaching program. Her passion for GenAI and its use in continuing professional development (CPD) and research was sparked when OpenAI launched ChatGPT— she has since completed various courses, imparted numerous keynotes on the subject, and holds various national/international committee positions regarding emerging technology.

Sofia completed her General Surgery training at the American British Cowdray Medical Center in Mexico City, where she began her surgical practice and participated closely in undergrad and resident education. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Her passion for medical education, CPD and culture in medicine brought her to McGill University, where she completed a master’s and PhD in surgical education. 

In the role of Clinical Director, Strategic Initiatives, Sofia acts as a senior advisor to leadership, particularly in the advancement of emerging technologies in CPD, and will champion innovations in education and research. She also supports projects as a physician lead and engages in opportunities for internal and external collaborations.

Dr. Bob Bluman received his MD from the University of British Columbia and completed his specialty training in Family Medicine at McGill University (CCFP) in 1979. He was in active full-service family practice for 37 years and is a Clinical Professor in the UBC Department of Family Practice. He was a Preceptor in the Family Medicine Residency Program from 2001 – 2015.  

Dr. Bluman served as the Assistant Dean, Continuing Professional Development from 2003 to 2011 and was the UBC CPD Medical Director, Special Projects from 2011 to 2015 when he assumed the role of Acting Associate Dean, CPD during Dr. Brenna Lynn's maternity leave. From 2016 to 2024, he was the Executive Medical Director. Dr. Bluman is currently a Special Advisor to UBC CPD.  

In addition to participating in the planning, development, organization and implementation of various CME/CPD programs, Dr. Bluman was the lead in the development of the UBC CPD FoM Commercial Support Guidelines document. He also served as the Chair of the Canadian Standing Committee on the CPD Industry Relations Working Group and as lead for the development and publication of a national Position Paper on the role of industry in university-based CME/CPD which was endorsed by the Canadian Council of Faculty of Medicine Deans.  He was involved in the initiation of the “ThisChangedMyPractice” educational web resource, eCoach self-directed practice improvement tool, BC Physician Integration Program (BC-PIP) for IMGs, CME on the Run! Conference and the Rural CPD Outreach Program (RCPD) including the Indigenous Patient Led as well as the Coaching and Mentoring Programs. He currently has a particular interest in self-directed learning, coaching and mentoring as well as patient mediated CPD and patient self-management. His research activities include his role as the Principal Investigator of several large-scale BC wide CME/CPD needs assessments. Dr. Bluman actively works with many provincial and national stakeholders to optimize CME/CPD delivery to physicians and other health care professionals.

Dr. Bluman is a fitness and sports enthusiast as well as an avid road cyclist and sometimes skier. Most important to him is spending time with his family including three sons and two grandkids.  

Dr. Simon Moore, Clinical Assistant Professor, University of British Columbia, Dept. of Family Practice has a passion for teaching and he hates boring lectures. He is a former President of the Canadian Association of Internes of Residents (now known as Resident Doctors of Canada). He has worked in rural BC, Northwest Territories, and Ontario, and now works in Urgent Care and at an Indigenous Family Health Team. Dr. Moore is an award-winning teacher in the UBC Faculty of Medicine and is the founder and lead faculty of The Review Course in Family Medicine.
