Updated course addresses new guidelines for Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment
The Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program (POATSP) approaches how to navigate opioid use disorder treatment as a family physician, specialist, nurse practitioner or pharmacist.
If you were registered in the previous version of POATSP, you will need to re-enroll based on latest updates in A Guideline for the Clinical Management of Opioid Use Disorder (2023).

Final call to apply for UBC CPD Residents Grants
The deadline to apply for the Educational Research Grants for Residents has been extended. UBC residents conducting and presenting research as part of graduation requirements are eligible and invited to apply. Grant recipients receive an honorarium of $500 to support educational research projects.
Brand new conference series to tackle work-life balance for practicing physicians
The new Practice Foundations: Surviving to Thriving virtual conference series, co-sponsored by UBC CPD and UBC Postgraduate Medical Education, will take place on Feb. 7 and Mar. 5, where practiced physicians will speak on improving work-life balance through all stages of practice. UBC medical residents are eligible for a discounted rate.

New webinar offers long-term care strategies for patients affected by pregnancy complications
Primary care providers are invited to participate in this new accredited webinar, What All Primary Care Providers Should Know: Managing Lifelong Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health Risks After Pregnancy Complications, offered by UBC CPD and the Perinatal Community of Practice.
Experts will discuss increased health risks from pregnancy complications and share practical strategies on lifelong care. Register to attend on Jan. 16 – questions are encouraged.
UBC CPD Personal Learning Plans now open to new learners – Don't miss this opportunity!
Registration for the Personal Learning Plans (PLP) is now open to new learners. New to rural practice physicians and International Medical Graduate (IMG) physicians are eligible and invited to participate in this program.
New education for Alcohol Use Management in Primary Care
In partnership with the BC Ministry of Health, UBC CPD will create education for health professionals to implement evidence-based prevention, harm reduction and treatment interventions for high-risk drinking and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) in their scope of practice.
Health professionals are encouraged to participate in the development of new education about Alcohol Use Disorder by completing a short, anonymous survey by Jan. 3, 2024.

This year’s Pacific Psychopharmacology Conference, organized by UBC CPD and the UBC Department of Psychiatry, took place Sept. 28-29 and featured topics like new treatments for psychosis, mental health and Indigenous community care, ADHD across the age spectrum and more.
