BC Cancer Primary Care Learning Sessions: Prostate Cancer
This online module is for primary care providers practicing in British Columbia who are interested in learning more about prostate cancer care, and their role in supporting patients through their journey. This module will explore best practices in testing, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, surveillance, and late effects.
This course is divided into 3 lessons:
- Lesson 1: Testing & Early Diagnosis
- Lesson 2: Staging & Treatment
- Lesson 3: Survivorship, Surveillance & Late Effects
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe and select from available testing options in asymptomatic patients, leading to early prostate cancer detection and improved patient outcomes.
- Recognize red flag symptoms associated with prostate cancer and select appropriate and timely diagnostic investigations and referrals.
- Define cultural safety and humility, and identify ways to create safer and more respectful healthcare relationships.
- Describe roles and responsibilities of health care providers along the prostate cancer continuum.
- Identify and manage matters related to survivorship, surveillance, and late effects in prostate cancer.
