In August, we’re celebrating the many collaborative partnerships we share with health organizations, authorities and committees to bring CPD solutions to life. Climate change and extreme heat are top of mind this time of year. Visit our resources related to climate action, a shared focus this month with stories from the Faculty of Medicine Pathways.

Welcome back to the fall season of learning. We’ve prepared an incredible lineup of conferences, workshops, webinars and eLearning modules for you, including two just announced webinars and an additional winter session of Rural Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Rounds. In recognition of Childhood, Ovarian and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September, we’re highlighting learning on cancer screening and care developed in partnership with BC Cancer. We look forward to seeing you at some of our incredible learning activities in the coming weeks.

This month we encourage you to take part in Occupational Therapy Month and World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with learning that focuses on these topics. In addition to some popular annual events, October also launches several new learning activities related to adult mental health, ophthalmic emergencies, virtual geriatric exams, and rounds dedicated to rural settings, including a new option for dedicated support with office hours.

November is a busy month for continuing professional development — several new learning activities have been announced and many popular events are just around the corner. It’s also a month when we celebrate the achievements of our colleagues.

This December, we announce several exciting events to take place in the new year. Discover more this month through our learning activities about new challenges and best practices for managing syphilis and other STIs and rounds dedicated to managing young febrile infants in the rural setting. UBC CPD welcomes a new member to our administrative team and congratulates the recipients of the 2023 Faculty of Medicine awards. Don’t miss the new guidelines for our Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program and our final call to apply for UBC CPD Resident Grant applications.

We welcome 2024 with opportunities to connect and create together. A new season of learning is ushered in with education on enhanced technology and treatments for pediatric diabetes, updated learning on postpartum care and brand-new tools to support early diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. We mark the twentieth year of the virtual Hot Topics in Cardiology conference and share a brand-new interactive resource on clinical tools to provide care to children and youth experiencing substance use. This month, we’re joined by a visiting professor and a new member of the Conference team. Happy New Year!

This February, UBC CPD celebrates resident doctors’ dedication to enhance health care throughout the province. In recognition of Resident Doctor Appreciation Week, we are pleased to announce three recipients of the Educational Research Grants for Residents, share a brand-new coaching portal for physician residents to create their own coaching program, and encourage residents to take part in CPD learning opportunities and foster connections with peers. We’re excited to share that the Vancouver Division of Family Practice (VDoFP) has launched in-person workshops on the best practices in team-based care. Our popular Spring Dermatology Review Virtual Series will address original topics in primary care practice, including new dermatologic therapies. We also offer a new approach to asthma and COPD therapy in the latest This Changed my Practice article. UBC CPD also welcomes two new team members and recruits a Research Associate.
